Michele “Xéu” Jean Leite has been tattooing since 1998, building a practice rooted in symbolism, ritual, and transformation. Originally from Canada and raised partly in Portugal, her work has evolved through decades of travel, private studio work, and deep engagement with the personal and cultural meaning of mark making. Now based in Asheville, North Carolina, Xéu approaches tattooing as a slow and intentional process, one that honors transition, grief, reclamation, beauty, and the stories people carry in the body. Her work is shaped by the belief that tattooing is not only adornment, but a way of giving form to what has been lived, lost, survived, and chosen.
